Bicycling in Greensboro, Safer Riding Demonstration Event with Greensboro DOT!
We were invited and participated in an event put on by the Greensboro NC Department of Transportation in conjunction with Bicycling In Greensboro (BIG) and the Community Bike Shop. We sponsor both of these organizations which you can read more about here.
Sunday we had over 50 people turn out to test ride a designated route to demonstrate Safer Bicycle Riding by staging temporary Lane Delineators to protect the standard Bicycle Lanes. Greensboro City now has a policy that when they are re-paving a road they incorporate bicycle lanes. When budget allows, they will consider the permanent installation of the lane delineators.
It is important as a citizen of the City of Greensboro that you voice your concern about Safer Bicycle Riding and the need for the investment in Delineators at least along the most commonly used corridors and streets.
