The Lyndons in Hilton Head, SC

Craig LyndonCustomer Stories, eBike Lifestyle

Veteran e-Bikers Craig and Carlene, enjoyed a recent trip to Hilton Head Island in South Carolina, listed among the top 25 bicycle-friendly cities in the U.S. They had heard that Hilton Head was a great destination for cyclists, but they were surprised at just how much they could see and how far they could ride with daughters Cydney and Cora. “It’s fair to say that there’s no place on the island that you can’t get to on a bike,” said Craig.

Hilton Head holds a Gold Level Bicycle Friendly Community Award through the League of American Bicyclists. It’s the only Gold Level Community in the Southeast. View Hilton Head bike paths.

“It was so obvious to us how dedicated the town was to creating a bicycle friendly community,” said Carlene. “They actually call their sidewalks ‘leisure paths,’ and everyone is encouraged to bicycle on them. There are even stop and yield signs on these paths, especially made for cyclists.”

Hilton Head also allows bikes on the hard-packed beach during low tide. It’s a great destination, and it’s fun to think about visiting Hilton Head as we enter the winter months. It’s subtropical climate means it rarely dips below 60 degrees during the coldest time of year.

“We were extremely happy that we had the pedal assist, because one day we looked down to realize we were late for a Dolphin Tour appointment at the marina,” said Craig. “We simply kicked the pedal assist into Turbo and traveled about 18mph to get to our destination on time. We not only went FARTHER, but FASTER, as well!”
